Gnosall Parish Council needs you!

APPLICATIONS FOR CO-OPTED COUNCILLORS

Gnosall Parish Council has two casual vacancies, one for Gnosall and one for Moreton, and is urging enthusiastic and engaged members of the community who would like to make a difference, have innovative ideas, and want to help shape the future of Gnosall Parish, to put themselves forward for co-option.

We need people of all ages, all backgrounds, and experiences to represent our community. No previous experience or special qualifications are necessary, just your life experience, everyday skills, passion and commitment to people and our community.

Candidates will be asked to make a declaration that they meet the following requirements of the Local Government Act 1972, s.79(1):

All candidates must:

  • Be a British citizen or an eligible Commonwealth citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be registered to vote in Eccleshall & Gnosall or
  • Lived in or within 3 miles of the Parish, for at least 12 months or
  • Owned or occupied property in the Parish for at least 12 months or
  • Worked in the parish for at least 12 months.

Certain people are disqualified from standing, these include paid officers of the council (including clerks), bankrupts and those subject to recent sentences of imprisonment (within last 5 years prior to date of election) – Local Government Act 1972, s.80.

A person is also disqualified if they are subject to any relevant notifications or a relevant order under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 – Local Government Act 1972, s.81(a).
